Here are 10 new facts about Generation Z that you don't know yet. Generation Z (Gen Z for short) or Zoomers are people born between 1997 and 2012. They are the successors of Generation Y, are digital natives and have grown up with technologies such as the Internet, smartphones and all kinds of computers. Digital applications are a natural part of their daily lives.

1. The smartphone as a daily companion

Since 2002, the mobile phone has combined phone, text messaging, camera, Internet access, applications and games in a single device. However, it was not until the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 and the subsequent launch of Google's Android operating system that the smartphone era truly began. This makes members of Generation Z the first digital natives to grow up with a smartphone in their hands. Their familiarity with the smartphone is impressive and the term "swipe generation" is somewhat pejorative, but not entirely inaccurate. 

2. Generation Z represents 20% of the world's population.

No wonder you see young people everywhere with smartphones in their hands - one fifth of the world's population belongs to Generation Z!

3. Potential for conflict with previous generations.

When different generations meet, conflicts can arise. The important thing here is to encourage dialogue. If the different generations get along well with each other, both sides can benefit.

Generation Z is increasingly interested in politics and is at the forefront of many demonstrations. They want to contribute to shaping the future and are therefore often the organisers of such demonstrations.

5. Strong separation of work and private life

For this generation, it is important to clearly separate work and leisure. However, this has nothing to do with laziness, but with the fact that in the digital age it is possible to work everywhere.

6. It is increasingly concerned about the ecological future.

Generation Z is the first generation really concerned about climate change and the environment. Probably the best-known climate activist of Generation Z is world-renowned: Greta Thunberg.

Generation Z often faces difficulties when it comes to making decisions. There are too many options, too much information and too little time to think about the decision calmly.

8. Maximum lack of commitment

Whether it's about dating or a job, a decision is only temporary until something better comes along. 

9. They want immediate feedback

Young people are used to immediate feedback. This seems harmless at first, but its effects extend to all areas. Students of this generation expect immediate feedback on their performance at school, such as exam results. And if they don't receive it, they feel insecure. 10. They need space.
